Screaming into the Void

Maybe it’s finally the time to tell the story about my identity crisis (nothing new this time).

Alright, so maybe you know that my birth-name is Tanja. I never liked that name because it means “fighter” and I really don’t want to fight. I always just wanted to chill. But my life wasn’t blessed with uneventfulness, I somehow always found myself lost in a fight. Either it was in school with teachers, or with classmates, or at home with my parents because i always seem to argue with teachers and authoritiees in general. Time went by and I fled to Vienna (that was as far as I could get that time), away from my old life to finally get away from all that fighting. I thought, I’d need a different name. Something with a nice meaning. I wanted to see the light at the end of the darkness.

So the short form of my surname became my artist’s name (Lucy Luck), but unfortunately that was too difficult for people (it was only 4 letters but what do I know), so I changed it to Lucycore.

Why “Galeria”?

In 2021 I had a nasty breakup and the guy began to stalk me after. After weeks of trouble and hiding at friends’ places, working somewhere else in the meantime and leaving my own studio to my apprentices and colleagues, and after going to the police and asking for an injunction, me and my colleagues decided to move to a different district and do a complete rebrand. The new studio looked like a ship with all the wooden floors, it had a galleria and we did art-exhibitions too. All in all after all that stalker-bs we felt like we’ve been through a storm together so the analogy with the battle-ship really fit the situation.

Unfortunately “Galeria” was a bad name too, because either people wrote it with 2 L or with an A (galaria). And in the end Galleria Kaufhof claimed my name as their keyword, which killed my online representation in general. And I was sitting there for months, wondering why I had no new clients from one day to the next, from “pretty nice” to absolute zero. As if I am a threat to Galleria Kaufhof… -.- as if we even have anything in common…

After 6 months of constant struggle with the insanely high costs of keeping the studio going and checking my books, I decided to close the studio and laying the name “Galeria” to rest. My regular clients don’t really care if I have a beautiful studio or a shared space, they’d even go to a different country if I’d move out somewhere else completely. The only people who set much store on the fancy appearance of my studio are (for some reason mostly) german students, but sadly they never buy anything.

Lucycore

So back to Lucycore. Let’s try again. You will find me at Tint’nFisch Tattoo from July/August (depends on how fast I am with moving all my stuff. Wanna help?) I was working alone for quite some time now and it was awesome and peaceful. But maybe now it’s time to get some fresh air again, to move out and use the opportunity to get rid of unnecessary clutter again. The more space you have the more stuff you seem to collect. And I have merch now!
